| OUTPATIENT & CASUALTY DEPARTMENTS |
Vision:Our outpatient department is specially designed to meet patient's needs such that at the end of the day patient satisfaction is achieved. It is also the entry point for the many specialized clinics offered in the outpatient suite. The outpatient department is strategically located to conveniently attend to both ambulatory and emergency cases. While we are well equipped to care for the needs of the acutely ill patient, we also encourage patients with chronic illness to come for continuing care, and well patients to schedule visits for important health prevention such as pap smears. Our goal is care of the whole person, encompassing physical, emotional, spiritual needs in their social context. The department is run by a team of well trained doctors and nurses available 24 hours a day to provide continuous care. It is adequately staffed to meet the needs of patients seeking care. Our experienced clinical officers and nurses work closely with the consultants to see that the patients are getting the best possible care. Within OPD there is outpatient laboratory to ensure laboratory test required are done promptly to expedite care. Other diagnostic testing such as x-ray and ultrasound are also readily available. Customer Care Desk/RegistrationWhen patients arrive at the hospital, they are directed to the registration office, which is based at the entrance to the outpatient department. Here, important patient and family information is gathered, and the patient record is assembled. Directly across from the registration office is the customer care office. Customer care officer is responsible to answer questions, direct customers and ensure safety of patients in the waiting bay area. Triage AreaHere, important information is gathered by an experienced nurse. Vital signs are taken and after a nursing assessment, patients are directed to respective areas depending on the severity of their illnesses. Waiting Bay AreaPatients who are not critically ill wait here to be seen in private rooms in the order in which they arrived. This area is equipped with two televisions continuously running educational videos and entertaining music videos as people wait to be served. Monday to Friday at midday, a Gospel presentation is shared with waiting patients. CasualtyThe Casualty department is well staffed with professionals trained in general emergency procedures and resuscitative measures. Emergencies/trauma are attended to by a multidisciplinary team of medical and surgical specialists. Our casualty room has a capacity of seven beds and it is equipped with specialized equipment which allow for intensive monitoring of critically ill patients. Resuscitation is carried out in a well equipped area with facilities for oxygen and continuous monitoring of cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Portable X-rays and ultra sounds are carried out within casualty if required. A variety of medical and surgical problems are cared for by the experienced staff of the casualty. When indicated, a patient may be admitted, and transferred either to our medical or surgical unit, or to our well-equipped ICU. When admission is not necessary patients are treated and discharged with follow-up being made with one of our specialty clinics. |
